Metal Interlock clear floor coatings use a formulation technique by which metal is chemically complexed with the polymer and/or resin in an aqueous base. The use of bivalent metal ions such as zinc or zirconium bind together and form a crosslinked network with polymer chains. This technique causes the dried film to be more durable and detergent resistant while still allowing its ready removal with amine type strippers.
Metal Interlock floor finish provides improved detergent resistance and ability to remove its protective film if desired (it is “strip-able”). A metal salt is added to the polymer emulsion to provide this special binding and interlocking.
